This lecture will look at one of the most frustrating conditions seen in general practice. The lecture will give a case-based approach to treating FCGS by looking at what we know about the pathology, how to diagnose it and how to manage it, including owner’s expectations.
Dental tips for the Veterinary Nurse
This lecture will cover veterinary dentistry from a nurse’s perspective, covering some essentials on anatomy and physiology, give a basic understanding of periodontal disease and how this can be managed best in general practice and the nurse’s role in this. The lecture will also cover aspects on analgesia including local anaesthetic techniques.
Matthew is one of only a handful of veterinary dentists in the UK. He carries out referral dentistry and oral surgery cases at a number of practices including Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, South Devon Referrals, Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital in Wimbledon, Mandeville Hospital in West London and at his own base in the New Forest. He is the Course Organiser for the BVDA and co-ordinates both post-graduate courses and undergraduate teaching at Bristol University. He has taught veterinary dentistry at the Universities of Bristol, Liverpool, Cambridge and Surrey. He has lectured widely on veterinary dentistry in the UK and around Europe.
