Taking the fear out of phaeo and making it all add up: nursing management of patients with adrenal gland disease
This talk will cover the anatomy and physiology of the adrenal gland to provide a better understanding of the aetiology of canine and feline adrenal gland diseases and therefore the nursing considerations. The nurse’s role in diagnosis, treatment and monitoring will be discussed for hypoadrenocorticism, hyperadrenocorticism and phaeochromocytoma.
Katherine qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1995 and worked in mixed and small animal practice prior to moving to referral nursing in 2008. She obtained her Certificate of Veterinary Nursing in Emergency and Critical Care in 2012 and became a certified Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2019.
