Clinical cases will be used in this interactive session to emphasise the importance of biochemical and cytological analysis of effusion samples.

Assessment of bloods in the emergency patient (Nursing Programme)

This lecture will present the key findings of blood smear examination which can provide quickly useful and clinically relevant information in emergency cases.

Kostas graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1989. He has completed a PhD, a residency in Feline Gastroenterology, a residency in Clinical Pathology and has been a Lecturer and a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Pathology at the Bristol Veterinary School for more than 20 years. He has published more than 120 scientific papers, research abstracts, professional articles and book chapters. He is a European Veterinary specialist in Clinical Pathology and lectures regularly in the UK and Europe. Currently, he is the Lead of the Diagnostic Laboratories (Langford Vets), the director of the Clinical Pathology residency programme and a Clinical Teacher at the Bristol Veterinary School.
